July 7, 2021 | You can once again purchase TravelStar Emergency Medical Single-Trip and Multi-Trip Annual Plans. TravelStar Trip Cancellation Insurance and StudentPlan Plans are still unavailable for the time being.

If you're travelling the world, or even within Canada, there can be emergency medical costs that you didn’t plan for and that aren’t covered by government insurance. Our TravelStar Emergency Medical Insurance makes sure you're covered, when you need it, no matter where you are.

Sometimes, it doesn’t matter how much you plan or prepare. There will always be things out of your control, such as bad weather, that can lead to flight delays and cancellations. Our TravelStar Trip Cancellation coverage means you can protect your investment and that when disaster strikes, you’re not alone.

Includes coverage for items such as:

  • Non-refundable airfare, pre-paid travel arrangements and cancellation penalties
  • Out-of-pocket expenses you may incur during extended delays
  • Baggage loss, damage or delay

Studying in another province or country shouldn’t leave you without the protection you need to have a healthy and happy school year. This plan checks off "prepared for medical emergencies" so you can focus on getting good marks and making the most out of your adventure.

And for student athletes, we proudly offer Sports Participation Coverage to help with any medical expenses school or individual health plans don’t cover.

  • Coverage can range from four to 12 months
  • Emergency coverage for things such as ambulances, chiro, mental health professionals and more
  • 24/7 emergency assistance
  • Virtual Care for minor emergencies like a sprained ankle or eye infection can be available

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All applicants must meet the eligibility requirements. When applying for coverage for a child under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must declare on the dependant's behalf that the child also meets eligibility requirements - regardless of whether a premium is charged for the child or not.

We know travelling as a family can be expensive. We allow adults purchasing a Single-Trip Emergency Medical plan to include up to six dependent children under the age of 16 to their plan for free.

Trip Cancellation plans are available to anyone provided:

  • they're a Canadian resident;
  • the plan is purchased before leaving on a trip;
  • the destination isn't under a travel advisory to avoid non-essential or all travel;
  • the plan is purchased prior to cancellation penalties being imposed; and
  • medical questions have been answered if your trip is valued over $12,000

Benefits for baggage loss, damage & delay are payable up to $500 per item/set, to a maximum of $1,500 per person.
