GMS (Group Medical Services) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Johnston, B. Comm., to the position of Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, effective February 27th, 2017. Johnston will oversee GMS’ national sales and marketing operations, replacing John Salmond who was appointed GMS’ President and CEO in December, 2016.
Johnston began her career in the industry as an insurance broker. Most recently, she led the Individual Product Division as well as overseeing sales development for Saskatchewan Blue Cross. Sarah is a designated Human Resource Professional (CPHR) and a Compensation Management Specialist (CMS).
“Sarah brings an in-depth knowledge of the health and group insurance business and proven sales and marketing leadership to GMS,” said President John Salmond. “She will play a key role as we continue to expand our presence nationally and meet healthcare needs in markets we serve.”
Founded in Saskatchewan in 1949, GMS has been helping Canadians feel protected and live well for over 65 years. GMS has a long and proud tradition of giving back, most recently supporting healthcare-focused initiatives in Saskatchewan such as the GMS Cardiac Rhythm Device Clinic, the Alzheimer’s Society and the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS).
“GMS has a compelling vision – giving back to healthcare in Saskatchewan,” says Salmond. “We have great people who do their job for the greater good. Our small size means we’re nimble – we move fast enough to provide greater customer experiences and real value. We also have strong industry partners who share our commitment to customer service.”
