Trip Cancellation & Interruption Benefits
Benefits Insured Expenses
Events Before Departure
(Coverage is for expenses up to the sum insured)

 

Non-refundable airfare, hotel or condo fees and other prepaid travel costs if you must cancel your trip.
Single supplement or additional costs charged if your traveling companion cannot accompany you.
Extra costs incurred for missed connections if your departure is delayed due to weather or mechanical failure of the carrier.
Events After
Departure

(Coverage is for expenses up to a maximum of $10,000)
Airfare, change fees and the non-refundable portion of other prepaid travel costs, if you must return earlier or later than the contracted date of return.
Additional costs and non-refundable portion of other prepaid travel costs to rejoin a tour or group if you miss part of your trip.
Additional transportation costs for missed connections due to mechanical failure of the carrier, traffic accident, road closure or weather conditions.
Repatriation expenses if a person deceases to a maximum of $3,000 per person.
Out-of-pocket expenses to $500 if your return date is delayed.
Insured Risks (occurrences that interrupt your traveling schedule)
Emergency
Medical Conditions
Emergency treatment that delays or prevents you from traveling before or after departure; admission to hospital.
Death Death of an immediate family member, business partner, key employee, caregiver or host at a destination.
Pregnancy Complications of a pregnancy arising in the first thirty-one (31) weeks, involving you, your spouse or an immediate family member.
Government Advisories and Visas Travel advisories issued by the Canadian Government recommending against travel to the country you are scheduled to visit or the non-issuance of travel visas for reasons beyond your control.
Employment and Occupation Loss of permanent employment or relocation due to a job transfer; a cancelled business meeting.
Delays and
Schedule Change
Delay in travel due to weather conditions, mechanical failure, a traffic accident, emergency, police-directed road closure, airline schedule change or cancellation of an event that was the purpose of your trip that cause you to miss a portion of your non-refundable prepaid travel arrangements.
Other Risks Delays due to natural disaster; an act of terrorism before or after departure; hijacking or forced quarantine; jury duty or subpoena to be a witness; default of travel supplier.
Conditions Amounts are payable up to the amount of coverage purchased.
If you have received medical treatment or experienced symptoms within 180 days prior to purchase, certain exclusions may apply.
