Mission accomplished!

He did it! Our CEO raised more than $58,000 for STARS Air Ambulance as part of the Rescue on the Prairie challenge.

On August 24, 2017, six community leaders from around the province were dropped in a remote prairie location and faced a series of ‘survival challenges’ which they performed to raise critical funds for STARS Air Ambulance. The group rose to the challenge, raising a combined total of $540,000.

“It was truly an honour to get to know the men and women that keep STARS in the air, day in and day out. And getting a first-hand view of the conditions in which they perform miracles was awe-inspiring,” said GMS CEO John Salmond, still buzzing from the thrill of the event. “I’d like to thank everyone who supported our STARS Rescue on the Prairie challenge. I'm extremely proud of our grassroots fund-raising efforts. Every contribution made a difference!”

GMS corporate partners and suppliers stepped up to donate to this vital service, along with the staff of GMS, who worked tirelessly to set up Salmond for success, hosting fundraisers and making generous personal donations.

From buying fuel for a chopper flight to being title sponsor of the Night with STARS Gala, which raised $220,000 this past spring, the team at GMS is thrilled to support STARS and committed to continuing this relationship. Will someone from the team step up to the Rescue on the Prairie challenge next year? Stay tuned to find out.
