On January 27, 2017, the U.S. announced citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen are banned from entering the U.S. for 90 days.
Permanent Canadian residents travelling with a passport for one of these countries may be affected by the ban. As a travel insurance company, we’re here to help.
If you purchased our Trip Cancellation & Interruption Insurance (TCI), it provides benefits for non-refundable trip costs if you’re not issued a travel visa. If your trip to, or through, the U.S. was already underway when the ban was imposed, your travel may have been disrupted. You may have had to cancel, reschedule or delay travel arrangements. We encourage you to submit a TCI claim for us to review.
If you have a GMS TravelStar® Emergency Medical Plan, your coverage while travelling in, or through, the U.S. is not affected. Before your plan's effective date, you can also choose to request a full refund of your TravelStar premiums.
If you’re a visitor with GMS Immigrants & Visitors to Canada (VTC) insurance, your coverage while travelling in the U.S. is not affected. You can also choose to cancel your VTC plan before your plan's effective date.
